The Fab City concept that encourages the growth and development of the Circular Economy with the spirit that the regions can meet their own needs, by producing their own products needed through the support of advanced technology, I think is very much in line with the vision of ‘Nangun Sat Kerthi Loka Bali’, which is one of the principles in Tri Sakti Bung Karno, namely Economically Independent.

I welcome Fab City Network’s invitation to declare Bali as Fab Island, the First Fab Island in the World and am committed to the success of this program. By declaring itself as a Fab Island, Bali becomes part of a global network of technology, innovation, and entrepreneurship, in order to empower the community down to the grassroots. I also welcome the invitation to jointly make a Bali agreement on efforts to achieve low carbon development towards Net Zero Emission by 2045.

Regarding digital transformation, the Bali Provincial Government has taken strategic and tactical steps for low-carbon development towards Net Zero Emission in 2045, which include: 1) Developing an Organic Agriculture System Policy through Bali Provincial Regulation Number 8 of 2019; 2) Implement the Bali Clean Energy Policy as regulated in Bali Governor Regulation Number 45 of 2019; 3) Enforce the Policy on the Use of Battery-Based Electric Motorized Vehicles Regulated in Bali Governor Regulation Number 48 of 2019; and 4) Implementing a Policy for the Protection of Lakes, Springs, Rivers, and Seas with the Governor of Bali Regulation Number 24 of 2020.

Various policies or regulations in the field of digital development have been and are being implemented, namely; digital transformation plan map, governance and institutions, has collaborated with various stakeholders, and has made a priority scale for an electronic-based government system in various aspects of development.

Currently, the Bali Provincial Government has and is carrying out 4 (Four) Digital Transformation Scheme Scenarios, namely: process transformation, business model transformation, domain transformation, and cultural/organizational transformation, by placing digital technology not only as a support, but also as an enabler. , and even as a driver, who brings new solutions and directions in Bali’s development.

In order for this event to be sustainable, there are several things that can be synergized between the Bali Provincial Government and Fab City Networks around the world, including: 1) Encouraging the birth of Indigenous Village innovation, by utilizing the Traditional Village Hall or Banjar Hall in the Village. There are more than a thousand Balai Banjar adat spread throughout Bali, as a space for creativity and innovation. “As an initial measure, we have installed 1,493 Free Wifi in all Traditional Villages in Bali,” said the Governor of Bali from Sembiran Village, Buleleng; 2) Encouraging the use of appropriate technology in Kerthi Bali’s 6 Leading Economic Sectors, namely: (1) Agriculture Sector in a broad sense with an Organic Farming System, (2) Marine/Fishery Sector, (3) Manufacturing Industry Sector and Bali Branding Culture-Based Industry , (4) SME Sector, UMKM, and Cooperatives, (5) Creative and Digital Economy Sector, (6) Tourism Sector, namely Culture-Based, Quality, and Dignified Tourism; 3) Collaborate to be able to print technology-based creative human resources (HR) through programs at the Elementary Education level and Secondary Education level in Elementary School (SD), Junior High School (SMP), and High School (SMA/SMK); and 4) Research and Community Service Cooperation with the Bali Provincial Research and Innovation Agency, as well as involving all universities in Bali. With Bali becoming a Fab Island, the Tourism Sector, which currently dominates Bali’s economy, will develop/empower new types of tourism, namely technology-based tourism or technology tourism. This technology-based tourism will collaborate with local communities to find solutions to the challenges faced through research, development and co-production. In Global Dynamics, Bali must be open to global ideas, resources, and innovations, so that Bali will have a new economic model, which can serve as an example for the development of a national economic model. Therefore, I really hope and invite Fab City Network to contribute significantly in the development of the Bali digital platform, including supporting the Bali Digi Fest event which is held annually by the Bali Provincial Government, in order to realize the Digital Kerthi Bali vision, with the spirit of Enabling Bali As Digital Creative Paradise.***go
