Ngurah Rai International Airport Welcomes IndiGo Airlines’ Inaugural Mumbai–Bali Flight, Strengthening Indonesia–India Connectivity

BALI — I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali officially welcomed the inaugural IndiGo Airlines flight from Mumbai, India, marking the opening of a new direct route connecting one of India’s largest cities with Indonesia’s world-renowned island destination, Bali.

The inaugural flight, operated by an Airbus A320 aircraft with flight number 6E 1607, landed at 4:00 p.m. local time carrying 173 passengers from Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport, Mumbai. The return flight 6E 1608 departed for Mumbai at 5:45 p.m. The new route will operate daily.

General Manager of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport – Bali, Ahmad Syaugi Shahab, expressed his appreciation for IndiGo Airlines’ decision to expand its international network to Bali.

“We warmly welcome IndiGo Airlines for opening this direct route from Mumbai to Bali. This new connection not only expands the international flight network of Ngurah Rai Airport but also strengthens tourism and economic relations between Indonesia and India,” said Syaugi.

He added that India remains one of Bali’s most promising tourist markets. From January to October 2025, the airport recorded 438,646 Indian visitors, an 8 percent increase compared to 2024, placing India as the third-largest source of international arrivals to Bali.

“With the launch of this direct Mumbai–Denpasar route, we are optimistic that the number of Indian tourists will continue to grow and that Bali will remain a top holiday destination for the Indian market,” Syaugi added.

The launch of the Mumbai–Denpasar service strengthens the air connectivity between Indonesia and India, with three Indian cities — Mumbai, New Delhi, and Bengaluru — now directly connected to Bali. These routes are currently served by IndiGo Airlines and Air India.

With this addition, I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport now serves 37 international routes and 21 domestic routes, totaling 58 active flight routes.
