LOMBOK – The upcoming GT World Challenge Asia 2026, scheduled for May 1–3, 2026 at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit, once again highlights Indonesia’s readiness to host world-class international racing events. This readiness is reflected not only in infrastructure, but also in the growing professionalism and competence of local human resources.
A total of 200 marshals, all from West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), will play a crucial role in supporting race operations. They are assigned across key functions, including 45 Pitlane Marshals, 95 Track Marshals, 10 Track Maintenance Marshals, 8 Chief Marshals, 8 Pick-Up Bike Marshals, 23 Recovery Marshals, and a number of reserve marshals. Together, they ensure that every aspect of the race runs safely, smoothly, and in accordance with international standards.
Marshals are among the most vital elements in motorsport events. Their responsibilities range from monitoring the track and handling incidents to ensuring the safety of drivers and crew—tasks that require precision, quick response, and strong coordination.
President Director of MGPA, Priandhi Satria, stated that the full involvement of local marshals demonstrates Indonesia’s capability to support world-class motorsport events.
“The participation of 200 local NTB marshals in GT World Challenge Asia 2026 confirms that Mandalika Circuit is not only ready in terms of facilities, but also supported by competent, well-trained, and experienced human resources who meet international safety and operational standards,” he said.
He added that all marshals have undergone rigorous recruitment and training processes and have been involved in previous events, enabling them to perform their critical roles professionally.
Furthermore, this involvement is part of a long-term commitment to building a sustainable national motorsport ecosystem. “We aim for Mandalika to be recognized not only as a world-class racing venue, but also as a center for developing globally competitive motorsport talent,” he added.
The full participation of local marshals in this international event reflects the increasing capacity and professionalism of regional human resources. With a structured system aligned with international standards, the marshals not only ensure the smooth running of the race but also strengthen the position of The Mandalika as a leading global motorsport destination.
The GT World Challenge Asia 2026 is expected not only to deliver high-level racing competition but also to leave a lasting legacy in the form of enhanced local human resource quality capable of competing on the global stage.
