MANDALIKA – The 2025 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia concluded successfully after three days of world-class racing action from October 3–5, 2025, at the Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit in The Mandalika, Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB). This year’s edition—organized by PT Aviasi Pariwisata Indonesia (Persero) or InJourney, together with InJourney Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) and MGPA—has been hailed as the most successful since the event’s debut in 2022.
Over 140,324 spectators attended the race weekend, marking a 15.73% increase compared to 2024’s 121,252 visitors and 2023’s 103,000. The growing numbers reflect the surging enthusiasm of motorsport fans and travelers for The Mandalika as a global sportstainment destination. Beyond attendance, this year’s success was defined by stronger technical readiness, improved audience services, and enhanced infrastructure—solidifying Indonesia’s capacity to host world-class international racing events.
The event’s success was made possible through strong collaboration with the Ministry of Youth and Sports, the NTB Provincial Government, strategic partners, media, and the local community. This synergy not only delivered a spectacular race experience but also strengthened the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia’s role as a powerful driver of economic growth, tourism, and cultural promotion.
Minister of Youth and Sports Erick Thohir praised this year’s race as the best since MotoGP™ first arrived in Mandalika.
“It’s incredible—more than 140,000 people came to watch! This is a huge achievement. We’ve seen great collaboration between the government, industry, Pertamina, the Ministry of Tourism, and local authorities to make this event a key part of promoting Indonesia. We will continue improving—especially in expanding hotel capacity—to attract more investors. If we succeeded in building Nusa Dua, we can certainly do the same here,” said Thohir.
InJourney’s President Director Maya Watono emphasized the broader mission behind the event:
“Each year, we aim to elevate the quality of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia. We see it not merely as a sporting event, but as a strategic nation branding platform that positions Indonesia on the global tourism and sports map. This year, we’ve witnessed real economic impact—from hotel occupancy rates reaching 100%, to fully booked additional flights and growing enthusiasm from both domestic and international visitors.”
The 2025 Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia generated significant economic benefits for NTB’s local communities. Hotel occupancy in The Mandalika area reached 100%, even surpassing available capacity. According to data from the NTB Tourism Office, the average hotel occupancy rate across Lombok stood at 93%, with Mataram City at 90% and The Mandalika at full capacity.
The event also boosted air travel activity. Lombok International Airport recorded 44 additional flights: Garuda Indonesia (18), Citilink (10), AirAsia (8), Pelita Air (2), and Wings Air (6). This growth underscores the Grand Prix’s role as both a tourism catalyst and a driver of regional mobility.
Moreover, more than 2,073 local workers were employed across various sectors during the event, reinforcing the Grand Prix’s contribution to job creation, local empowerment, and the advancement of sports tourism in Indonesia.
Beyond the racing spectacle, the Grand Prix served as a celebration of culture, highlighting the traditions, art, and hospitality of the Sasak people. From traditional dance performances and culinary showcases to local crafts exhibitions, visitors were immersed in an authentic Lombok experience.
“This event is a vital platform to showcase Indonesia’s cultural richness and local wisdom on an international stage,” said Maya Watono. “It reinforces The Mandalika’s positioning as The Ultimate Lifestyle Sportstainment Destination, bringing real benefits to local communities.”
Chairman of Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2025 Troy Warokka added:
“This year’s edition is special—not only for its record attendance, but also for the wide range of ESG programs we carried out with ITDC and Dorna Sports, integrating sustainability and culture into the global racing scene. The Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia has become more than just a motorsport event—it’s a positive force for social, cultural, and economic growth.”
