Middle East Conflict Triggers Flight Adjustments at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport

BADUNG – The ongoing escalation of conflict in the Middle East has begun to impact international aviation, including flight routes to and from Bali. The closure of airspace in several countries across the region for security reasons has resulted in flight delays and cancellations affecting international travelers.

Management of PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia (InJourney Airports), the operator of I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport, confirmed that while several routes have been adjusted, overall airport operations and services remain running normally.

“Following the closure of airspace in several countries, a number of flight routes at I Gusti Ngurah Rai International Airport have experienced delays and schedule adjustments. However, airport operations and services continue to run normally,” said Gede Eka Sandi Asmadi, Head of Communication and Legal Division of Ngurah Rai Airport, in an official statement on Saturday (February 28).

As of 9:00 PM WITA on Saturday, February 28, the following flights were recorded as affected:

  1. Etihad Airways EY477, Denpasar (DPS) – Abu Dhabi (AUH): Postponed
  2. Emirates EK369, Denpasar (DPS) – Dubai (DXB): Canceled
  3. Emirates EK399, Denpasar (DPS) – Dubai (DXB): Canceled
  4. Qatar Airways QR963, Denpasar (DPS) – Doha (DOH): Canceled

These routes connect Bali with major Middle Eastern hubs that are currently impacted by geopolitical tensions and airspace restrictions.

PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia stated that it has been coordinating closely with airlines to update flight schedules and ensure proper handling of affected passengers already at the airport. Coordination is also being carried out with AirNav Indonesia to monitor developments in impacted airspace, as well as with security authorities to anticipate any potential security concerns at the airport.

Passengers, particularly those traveling to or transiting through the Middle East, are strongly advised to maintain communication with their respective airlines for the latest flight schedule updates before heading to the airport.

To assist travelers, the airport operator has provided a help desk located on the 2nd floor of the International Departure Terminal, as well as a contact center service accessible via telephone at 172 for updated information.

Airport management emphasized that it will continue to closely monitor global developments and take necessary anticipatory measures to ensure operational continuity and passenger comfort at Ngurah Rai International Airport.***
