Celebrating the 48th Anniversary, Bali Tourism Polytechnic Asserts Transformation Towards ‘World-Class’ Status

BALI – Bali Tourism Polytechnic (BiTP) marked the pinnacle of its 48th Anniversary
(Dies Natalis) by convening an Open Senate Session at the Joop Ave Hall on Friday
(March 27, 2026). Under the philosophical theme “Taru Sekala: Rooting the
Universe’s Heritage,” the event stands as a strategic milestone in the institution’s
mission to integrate cultural heritage with technological innovation.

Director of Bali Tourism Polytechnic, Dr. Drs. Ida Bagus Putu Puja, M.Kes,
emphasized that the theme is not merely a slogan, but a reflection of the institution’s
trajectory as a sustainable vocational education ecosystem.

“Taru Sekala defines this campus as a living ecosystem rooted in core values,
growing through a robust academic system, and flourishing through cross-disciplinary
innovation,” Dr. Puja stated in his keynote address.

He further articulated the institution’s grand vision of becoming a “World-Class
Tourism Polytechnic.” To realize this global ambition, Bali Tourism Polytechnic is
prioritizing three strategic pillars: Excellence, Integrity, and Synergy. These pillars are
being operationalized through digital transformation, sustainable tourism
development, and integrity-based governance.

A highlight of the session was the official inauguration of Prof. Dr. Irene Hanna H.
Sihombing, SE., MM., CHE as a Full Professor. This appointment is viewed as a vital
infusion of academic and research capacity for the institution.

Following the ceremony, Prof. Irene delivered a scientific oration addressing the
academic sector’s role in tackling contemporary challenges within the tourism
industry. The addition of a new Professor is expected to solidify Bali Tourism
Polytechnic standing as a premier Center of Excellence for tourism education in
Indonesia.

The event also served as a platform for scholarly dissemination with the launch of
the book “Kamala: Society and Culture in the Dynamics of Green Tourism.” The

The proceedings concluded with an awards ceremony honoring winners of the
anniversary competitions and the presentation of the revolving trophy to the general
champion.

In his closing remarks, Dr. Puja reminded the academic community that values and
