JIMBARAN, THEIMAGE.ID – Udayana University (Unud) held an Academic Ceremony for its 167th Graduation at the Widya Sabha Auditorium, Jimbaran Campus, on Saturday (April 19, 2025). A total of 881 graduates were officially conferred their degrees.
With this batch, Unud now has a total of 128,638 alumni.
Of the 881 graduates, based on their academic level: 22 hold Doctoral degrees, 102 Master’s degrees, 34 Specialist degrees, 133 Professional degrees, 589 Bachelor’s degrees, and 1 from the Diploma Program. Among them, 357 graduates earned the distinction of Cum Laude.
In his report, Unud’s Vice Rector for Academic Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. I Gede Rai Maya Temaja, MP., IPU, stated that this cohort was dominated by female graduates, with 481 women compared to 400 men.
In terms of academic achievement, the female graduates had a higher average GPA of 3.80 compared to the male average of 3.77. The average length of study for women was 7.42 semesters, slightly shorter than that of men, which was 7.72 semesters.
On this occasion, the Vice Rector extended his gratitude to the graduates’ families for their trust in Udayana University as the place for their higher education journey. He also expressed his hope that graduates, through the knowledge they’ve gained, will not only master academic skills but also lead intelligent lives with strong character in both professional and societal settings. He emphasized the importance of dedication, innovation, and collaboration in the workplace.
“These are the keys to your success in life,” said Prof. Rai.
To gather important feedback for the improvement and development of the university’s systems and educational services, including facilities, teaching and learning models, and processes, he encouraged the graduates to participate in the university’s online tracer study.
Meanwhile, Unud Rector Prof. Ir. I Ketut Sudarsana, ST., Ph.D., in his speech, congratulated the graduates for successfully completing their studies at Udayana University.
“Your success is a testament to your hard work. I am confident that throughout your academic journey, you’ve faced numerous challenges. I express my pride in your achievements and perseverance in overcoming all obstacles,” said the Rector.
He went on to say that this graduation ceremony marks the final academic event in one’s university education. Graduation is a formal declaration of having completed a certain level of education. It also represents one of Udayana University’s responsibilities to the Indonesian nation — to prepare high-quality and competitive human resources in today’s global era.
The Rector reminded all graduates that graduation and the academic title earned are not the end, but rather the beginning of new challenges in life. As alumni, they represent Udayana University in the wider community, and their conduct will reflect on their alma mater. Therefore, he urged them to uphold the university’s good name by always thinking, speaking, and acting positively. He also expressed his hope that graduates will apply their knowledge in their respective fields with responsibility and excellence.
In her valedictory address, graduate representative Made Putri Pramesti Rahayu shared that reaching this point involved a journey filled with both joy and hardship. The joys included building relationships with people of different ethnicities, races, and religions, gaining academic, non-academic, and organizational experiences, and acquiring vast knowledge. However, there were also challenges, such as research failures.
She emphasized that these hardships shouldn’t be forgotten or dismissed, as they offer the most valuable life lessons, shaping individuals into stronger and more resilient people, better prepared to face future challenges.***
