Before 500 Members of the 2025 Immigration Patrol Task Force, Minister of Immigration and Corrections Vows to Safeguard Security; Governor Koster Pledges Firm Action Against Misbehaving Foreigners

DENPASAR – Bali Governor Wayan Koster attended the Inauguration Ceremony of the 2025 Immigration Patrol Task Force, held in collaboration with the Minister of Immigration and Corrections of the Republic of Indonesia (IMIPAS), Agus Andrianto. The event, which took place at Benoa Harbor, Denpasar, on Tuesday (August 5), reflects a joint commitment to safeguarding regional stability and security, especially in Bali.

Acting as the ceremony’s inspector, Minister Agus Andrianto officially inaugurated the Immigration Patrol Task Force (Satgas) in the Bali region. The event was attended by over 500 participants, including representatives from Immigration, Corrections, the Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI), National Police (Polri), Civil Service Police (Satpol PP), and traditional Balinese security forces (Pecalang).

In his address, Minister Agus Andrianto emphasized that the formation of the Immigration Patrol Task Force is a direct follow-up to directives from the President of Indonesia, aimed at ensuring the stability and security of Bali as a leading national and international tourist destination.

“Immigration is the leading sector in overseeing the activities of foreign nationals. This task force is designed to respond swiftly to violations, reduce their occurrence, and foster a sense of security within the community,” he stated firmly.

The task force was established under Law No. 6 of 2011 on Immigration and Government Regulation No. 31 of 2013. It begins operations with an initial force of 100 immigration officers equipped with safety vests, body cameras, and a fleet of patrol motorcycles and vehicles. Patrols will be conducted in 10 strategic locations, including Canggu, Seminyak, Kerobokan, Uluwatu, Benoa Harbor, and Ubud.

Governor Koster: No Tolerance for Law-Breaking Foreigners

On the same occasion, Bali Governor Wayan Koster expressed full support for the task force’s formation. He stressed that there would be no tolerance for foreign nationals who violate the law or show disrespect for Balinese culture and social norms.

“Bali is a welcoming and open destination, but it also upholds values that must be respected. There is no place in Bali for foreigners who act recklessly. We fully support firm action against those who break the rules,” said Governor Koster.

He also extended his appreciation to the Ministry of Law and Human Rights, particularly the Directorate General of Immigration, for their hard work and coordination with local authorities. The Governor emphasized the need for collaborative oversight of foreign nationals, involving Immigration, Corrections, the Indonesian Army and Navy, National Police, Satpol PP, and Pecalang.

Concrete Immigration Action: Thousands Deported

Also speaking at the event, Acting Director General of Immigration Yuldi Yusman revealed that the immigration office has made significant progress in law enforcement. From November 2024 to July 2025, the Directorate General recorded 2,669 deportations, 2,009 detentions, and legal proceedings for 62 foreign nationals—a sharp increase from the previous period, sending a strong message that violations will not be tolerated.

“Similar operations will continue, both locally through the task force and nationally via Operation Wira Waspada. The goal is clear: to maintain stability, prevent violations, and strengthen public trust,” said Yuldi.

With the establishment of the Bali Immigration Patrol Task Force, it is hoped that the presence of foreigners in Bali will continue to bring economic benefits without disturbing the order and harmony of local communities. Bali must be preserved as a premier destination that is safe, orderly, and dignified.

The inauguration ceremony was also attended by the Chairman of the Bali Provincial House of Representatives (DPRD), the Bali Police Chief, the Commander of Military Region IX/Udayana, the Chief Prosecutor of Bali, and various other provincial and vertical officials.***den
