LOMBOK The staging of the Pertamina Grand Prix of Indonesia 2025 in The Mandalika has generated a significant national economic impact, reaching Rp4.96 trillion. The figure is based on a study conducted by LETMI ITB.
This achievement underscores that the world-class motorcycle racing event held at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit is not only an international sporting spectacle but also a major contributor to both national and regional economic activity.
The event attracted a total of 140,324 spectators. Hotel occupancy in the Mandalika area reached 100 percent, while occupancy rates averaged 93 percent across Lombok Island and 90 percent in Mataram City. In addition, more than 600 local micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs) participated in the event, which also generated employment for over 3,000 workers—67 percent of whom were from Central Lombok Regency.
Chairman of MotoGP Mandalika 2025 and Operations Director of ITDC, Troy Warokka, stated that the development of The Mandalika is a long-term investment in building a sustainable sport tourism ecosystem in Indonesia.
“The development of The Mandalika represents a long-term investment in creating a sport tourism ecosystem that integrates the sports, tourism, and local economic sectors, including MSMEs. International events held at Pertamina Mandalika International Circuit have proven to be catalysts for economic growth,” he said.
He added that the economic impact includes increased tourism activity, local economic circulation, job creation, and enhanced national branding for Indonesia on the global stage.
“This figure reflects a multiplier effect that far exceeds the cost of organizing the event,” he added.
