Budget-Efficiency Policies Push MICE Industry to Adapt

Dr. Diah Permana Tirtawati observes that the government’s budget-efficiency policies are starting to create a significant impact on the dynamics of the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences & Exhibitions (MICE) sector, including in Bali.

According to her, delays in activities across several ministries have been noticeable since the beginning of the year. In response, Melali MICE has begun strengthening its strategy by diversifying its market toward the private sector, both domestic and international. However, this adaptation process is not always straightforward, as each company operates with different business standards and procedures.

Dr. Diah emphasizes that changes in budget policies have wide-reaching consequences—not only for event organizers but also for the entire MICE supply chain, from equipment vendors and logistics to F&B providers, transportation services, and MSMEs.
“The MICE industry has a substantial domino effect. Because of this, evaluations are needed to ensure activity in this sector can continue,” she said.

She also highlighted that tourism—especially in Bali—is still in its post-pandemic recovery phase.
“We hope that budget-efficiency measures will not hinder the recovery momentum that has been built through major events, including the G20 Summit,” she concluded. **
