DENPASAR – Demonstrating its ongoing commitment to preserving local art and culture, THE 1O1 Bali Oasis Sanur presents a painting exhibition titled “Naive Art Melukis Surga (Painting Paradise)” by Balinese artist Ngurah KK. The exhibition runs from January 15 to March 15, 2026, and is showcased at the Lobby of THE 1O1 Bali Oasis Sanur.
The exhibition features works by Ngurah KK, who is known for his consistent exploration of the Young Artist Style originating from Panestanan Village, Ubud. This distinctive style is characterized by honest, innocent, and expressive visuals, rich in imagination and depicting Balinese daily life in its most genuine form.
Through the theme “Naive Art Melukis Surga (Painting Paradise)” visitors are invited to revisit an important phase in the history of Balinese painting, when everyday life was perceived as a form of “paradise.” This perspective is vividly conveyed through bright colors, bold lines, and spontaneous figures portraying farming activities, social interactions, and the harmonious relationship between humans, nature, and spirituality.
In this exhibition, Ngurah KK’s paintings function not only as visual artworks but also as cultural archives and social reflections. Panestanan Village is portrayed as a living space of simplicity, yet rich in values, beauty, and local wisdom—highlighting the paradox between economic modesty and cultural and spiritual abundance.
General Manager of THE 1O1 Bali Oasis Sanur, Nyoman Astika, stated that the exhibition aligns with the hotel’s vision of becoming an open space for creative collaboration and artistic appreciation.
Furthermore, the exhibition addresses the changes and challenges faced by Bali’s art villages amid tourism growth and rapid development. Through a naive yet sincere and straightforward approach, Ngurah KK’s works serve as a reminder that true beauty often emerges from simplicity and must be collectively preserved.
The “Naive Art Melukis Surga (Painting Paradise)” exhibition is open to the public and can be enjoyed by hotel guests and the wider community throughout the exhibition period. Beyond serving as a platform for art appreciation, the exhibition is also expected to encourage dialogue among artists, art enthusiasts, and younger generations on the importance of safeguarding cultural heritage and environmental sustainability.
Ngurah KK is a Balinese artist widely recognized for his dedication to the Young Artist Style from Panestanan Village, Ubud.
