DENPASAR, Bali – Jamie McIntyre’s legal counsel, Komang Ari Sumartawan, has strongly denied allegations that his client defrauded investors involved in the Marina Bay City project. Speaking at a press conference in Badung, Bali, on Friday (June 5, 2026), Komang Ari emphasized that no court has found McIntyre guilty of any wrongdoing.

Representing McIntyre under a power of attorney from PT Bali Real Estate Investments (BREI), Komang Ari argued that recent media reports and social media narratives surrounding the case have been one-sided and risk misleading the public.

“Indonesia is a country governed by the rule of law and upholds the principle of the presumption of innocence. No individual can be declared guilty based solely on allegations, reports, or public opinion,” he said.

Komang Ari stated that neither he nor his client has received an official copy of the alleged criminal complaint or supporting documents outlining the accusations. As a result, he said, it is difficult to provide a detailed response to claims that have not been formally presented to them.

Despite this, he believes efforts have been made to shape public opinion by portraying McIntyre as solely responsible for the issues surrounding the Marina Bay City development.

According to him, the dispute cannot be separated from a long-running business conflict involving Adrian Campbell and Kinnara Asia on one side, and Jamie McIntyre, BREI, and MBI on the other.

“This dispute involves corporate, contractual, licensing, zoning, and investor fund management issues, all of which require objective examination and legal proof,” he explained.

Komang Ari said the Marina Bay City project has faced numerous challenges from the outset, including regulatory hurdles, zoning changes, licensing processes, and land administration issues that significantly increased costs, timelines, and resource requirements.

He rejected claims that McIntyre intended to harm investors, stating that his client had invested substantial personal funds, business resources, time, and professional reputation to keep the project moving forward.

“Our client took responsibility for addressing the challenges that arose. His actions demonstrate a commitment to saving the project rather than avoiding responsibility,” he said.

Addressing concerns over investor funds, Komang Ari disputed claims that all investor contributions were under the control of McIntyre or his companies. Based on financial records and company documents available to his client, he said MBI and BREI received approximately USD 3 million.

However, he noted that information and documents available to his client suggest the total funds raised from investors may have been significantly higher than the amount ultimately received by MBI and BREI.

“If the total funds collected were indeed much larger, it is important to clarify where those funds were allocated, who received them, and who controlled their distribution,” he said.

For that reason, the legal team is calling for an independent audit, a comprehensive review of financial transactions, and an investigation involving all parties connected to the fundraising process.

Komang Ari further stated that funds received by MBI and BREI were used for project-related purposes, including land acquisition, legal and licensing costs, consultants, construction activities, and infrastructure development. He claimed that project expenditures ultimately exceeded the funds received and that the shortfall was covered using McIntyre’s personal funds.

Responding to the allegations circulating in public, Komang Ari urged all parties to respect the ongoing legal process and refrain from making conclusions before the facts are fully established.

He also warned that legal action could be taken against individuals or parties found to have engaged in defamation, dissemination of false information, or other actions that damage his client’s reputation and legal interests.

“We have received full instructions from our client to pursue all available legal remedies, both civil and criminal, against any party proven to have harmed his legal interests through defamatory or misleading statements,” he said.

Despite the allegations and ongoing public scrutiny, Komang Ari maintained that McIntyre remains committed to finding constructive solutions for investors and completing the Marina Bay City project through mechanisms that provide legal certainty for all stakeholders.

He also called on the public not to form conclusions prematurely and urged the media to uphold balanced journalism by presenting all sides of the issue.

“The truth is not determined by social media campaigns, public pressure, or media narratives. It is determined by facts, documents, lawful evidence, and an objective legal process,” he concluded. **
