BBTF 2026 Mega FAM Trip Showcases Tanjung Puting to Global Tourism Market

PANGKALAN BUN – Exploring the natural and cultural wonders of Indonesia, the Mega Familiarization Trip (Mega FAM Trip) held as part of the Bali & Beyond Travel Fair 2026 officially commenced from May 23–31, 2026, bringing together international buyers and tourism industry representatives from Russia, Germany, and the Netherlands.

The program forms part of Indonesia’s efforts to promote its tourism destinations to the international market through firsthand experiences at some of the country’s leading destinations, ranging from Tanjung Puting National Park to the cultural charm and hospitality of Bali.

The Mega FAM Trip BBTF 2026 is organized by the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Indonesia in collaboration with Indonesia Impression as the official travel partner. The Ministry plays a strategic role in strengthening the promotion of Indonesia’s priority destinations through business-to-business (B2B) networking, the engagement of potential international buyers, and the expansion of Indonesia’s tourism exposure through experiential tourism programs.

International participants arrived gradually in Jakarta on Saturday (May 23, 2026) via Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. The delegation consisted of buyers and tourism industry representatives from Russia, Germany, and the Netherlands, including representatives from the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Berlin. Upon arrival, participants were welcomed and provided transportation assistance by Indonesia Impression before staying overnight at Fairfield by Marriott Jakarta Airport.

The journey continued to Pangkalan Bun on Sunday (May 24, 2026). Upon arrival at Iskandar Airport, participants received a warm welcome featuring a traditional dance performance and breakfast hosted by Mercure Pangkalan Bun.

From Pangkalan Bun, participants traveled to Kumai and embarked on a river cruise along the Sekonyer River aboard two traditional wooden boats known locally as klotok. During the journey through Tanjung Puting National Park, participants enjoyed the lush tropical rainforest scenery, natural riverbank vegetation, and opportunities to observe endemic wildlife such as proboscis monkeys, orangutans, exotic birds, and other native species in their natural habitat.

Visits to Camp Tanjung Harapan, Pondok Tanggui Rehabilitation Center, and Camp Leakey became key highlights of the journey. At Camp Leakey, participants were introduced to the orangutan research center established in 1971 by renowned primatologist Dr. Biruté Galdikas. In addition to rainforest trekking, participants also experienced a nighttime firefly tour through the nipa palm area.

After completing their exploration in Tanjung Puting, the group is scheduled to continue to Bali on May 27, 2026, to participate in the series of activities at Bali & Beyond Travel Fair 2026.

Through the Mega FAM Trip BBTF 2026, participants are expected not only to gain authentic travel experiences in Indonesia but also to become tourism ambassadors who help introduce Indonesia’s diverse destinations to the global market.
