PANGKALAN BUN – The series of activities under the Bali & Beyond Travel Fair 2026 Mega Familiarization Trip (Mega FAM Trip) not only offers international buyers an immersive nature tourism experience, but also features an environmental conservation initiative at Camp Leakey.

The tree-planting activity, initiated by Indonesia Impression, was carried out together with international participants in the Tanjung Puting National Park area as part of a commitment to supporting conservation efforts and sustainable tourism.

During the activity, participants planted three endemic tree species native to the forests of Kalimantan: aru, nyatu, and ubar trees. These species play important ecological roles in maintaining the sustainability of the tropical rainforest ecosystem in Tanjung Puting.

The aru tree is known for its contribution to maintaining the balance of tropical forest ecosystems, helping absorb carbon emissions, and preserving air quality within the forest area. Meanwhile, the nyatu tree is a native Kalimantan species with high ecological value, helping maintain soil moisture and serving as an important part of the natural habitat for wildlife.

The ubar tree also plays a significant role in strengthening soil resilience in swamp forest areas while supporting the sustainability of Tanjung Puting’s natural ecosystem.

The tree-planting activity became one of the memorable experiences for international buyers and tourism industry representatives participating in the Mega FAM Trip BBTF 2026. In addition to exploring the natural beauty of Tanjung Puting and observing orangutans in their natural habitat, participants were also invited to take part in a tangible environmental conservation effort.
