Launching Art & Music Festival, Stay & Adopt Program, and Underwater Photography Exhibition
Bali – To commemorate World Tourism Day 2025, PHM HOTELS held a Bali & Gili Area Media Gathering at THE 1O1 Bali Oasis Sanur. More than just a celebration, this event reaffirmed PHM HOTELS’ commitment to sustainable tourism through meaningful programs and initiatives that positively impact both communities and the environment.
The series of events began with the launch of the Art & Music Festival: Sastra & Wastra, a cross-cultural art festival that will take place simultaneously across 18 PHM HOTELS properties from October 10 to November 30, 2025. The festival highlights the philosophy of Sastra (literature) and Wastra (traditional textiles) as reflections of Indonesia’s cultural journey, aligned with the spirit of sustainability.
At the same occasion, PHM HOTELS also introduced its latest initiative, the Stay & Adopt program, accessible through its official platform book101.com. This program represents a tangible contribution to marine ecosystem conservation through coral adoption.
The adopted corals will be planted at Kurma Amerta, a monumental turtle-shaped coral house created by artist and environmental activist Teguh Ostenrik, now managed by THE 1O1 Hotels & Resorts. Kurma Amerta not only serves as an artistic landmark but also as a symbol of marine conservation. Guests will also have the opportunity to adopt corals as part of their personal contribution to preserving Indonesia’s underwater heritage.
The sustainability mission is further enriched by an underwater photography exhibition titled “Shards of Blue – Fragments of Beauty, Echoes of Urgency” by artist Ribka Malise. Through her lens, Ribka captures both the beauty and vulnerability of marine ecosystems, reminding audiences of the urgent need for preservation. The exhibition will run until November 30, 2025, at THE 1O1 Bali Oasis Sanur as part of the Art & Music Festival.
The celebration also featured the screening of “Bisikan Terumbu” (Whispers of the Reef), a short documentary film created by Teguh Ostenrik and Artopologi with support from THE 1O1 Hotels & Resorts. The film delivers both artistic and ecological messages about the importance of coral reef conservation for the next generation.
Marcia Amandary, VP Brand & Development of PHM HOTELS, emphasized to contribute to marine sustainability.
“Through the Stay & Adopt program on book101.com, we aim to offer guests a simple yet meaningful way to contribute to marine sustainability. Each coral adoption is a small step with a big impact, not only for the underwater ecosystem but also for coastal communities,” said Marcia.
Nyoman Astika, General Manager of THE 1O1 Bali Oasis Sanur, added this year’s World Tourism Day is an important momentum for us to reaffirm the role of hotels, not just as providers of accommodation, but also as drivers of sustainable tourism. He believe that collaboration between art, culture, and the environment enriches travel experiences while creating long-term positive impacts.
Greta Indri, Corporate Brand & Marcom Manager of PHM HOTELS, concluded The Art & Music Festival: Sastra & Wastra represents our consistency in shaping a narrative of sustainable tourism. Art and culture are not just entertainment, but also powerful tools for education and for connecting communities, travelers, and nature.
Through the synergy of art, culture, and sustainability, PHM HOTELS aspires for World Tourism Day 2025 to become a starting point for collective action toward creating tourism that is more meaningful, impactful, and sustainable.***
