Indonesian Deputy Minister of Tourism: “Wellness Is Not a Trend—It’s a Global Need”

BALI, THEIMAGE.ID — Bali reinforced its positioning as a global wellness destination with the opening of the Bali Wellness and Beauty Expo (BWB Expo) 2025, held at the Bali Beach Convention Center within Sanur’s Health Special Economic Zone, “The Meru.”

The event was officially inaugurated by Indonesia’s Deputy Minister of Tourism, Ni Luh Puspa, who emphasized that wellness is no longer a temporary trend but a fundamental global necessity.

“Today’s travelers are no longer seeking just entertainment or scenic beauty. They are looking for experiences that restore both body and soul,” she said. “Wellness is the future of tourism, and Bali holds extraordinary potential to become a global wellness hub.”

The BWB Expo 2025 serves as a significant milestone in redefining Bali’s identity from a traditional holiday destination to a holistic wellness center. It adopts a comprehensive approach based on eight core pillars: Personal Care & Beauty; Healthy Eating, Nutrition & Weight Loss; Physical Activity; Wellness Tourism (including Spas and Thermal/Mineral Springs); Public Health, Prevention & Personalized Medicine; Traditional & Complementary Medicine; Wellness Real Estate and Workplace Wellness; and Mental Wellness.

Theme: “Grow-well in Bali – Where Wellness Becomes Beauty”

In her opening remarks, Diah Permana Tirtawati, Co-Founder and Director of BWB Expo 2025, stated that this year’s theme aims to underline how true beauty stems from inner balance and mindful living.

“For us, building a wellness ecosystem means collaboration and inclusivity. This platform isn’t only for large-scale industry players—it also supports local MSMEs, creative communities, and Bali’s youth who are passionate about wellness,” Diah noted.

Spanning three days, the expo features an exciting array of programs: expert-led talk shows, sunrise yoga and meditation, hands-on workshops, a clean beauty marketplace, fashion and makeup competitions, as well as networking and business matching sessions connecting local and international stakeholders.
