Poltekpar Bali, BRIN, and Kansai University Strengthen International Research Collaboration

DENPASAR – Bali Tourism Polytechnic (Poltekpar Bali), in collaboration with the National Research and Innovation Agency (BRIN) and Kansai University, Japan, strengthened their international research synergy through the International Seminar on Achieving BRIN Research Grant and Social Security held at the MICE Widyatula Hall, Poltekpar Bali, on Wednesday (17/9).

The seminar was designed to enhance the capacity of academics and researchers in accessing competitive research grants, building international collaboration networks, and addressing strategic issues on social security from the perspective of research and innovation.

In his opening remarks, Dr. Drs. Ida Bagus Putu Puja, M.Kes., Director of Poltekpar Bali, highlighted the importance of cross-country and interdisciplinary research synergy.

“By addressing social security issues through the lens of research and innovation, we emphasize the role of education and knowledge exchange in shaping a better future,” he stated.

The event also witnessed the signing of a Cooperation Agreement (PKS) between Poltekpar Bali and BRIN in the field of research. The agreement was signed by Dr. Ida Bagus Putu Puja and Irwanda Wisnu Wardhana, Ph.D. (Head of the BRIN Research Center for Cooperatives, Corporations, and People’s Economy), and witnessed by Dr. Agus Eko Nugroho, S.E., M.Appl.Econ. (Head of the BRIN Research Organization for Governance, Economy, and Community Welfare).

In his speech prior to the panel session, Dr. Agus Eko Nugroho emphasized the significance of multi-stakeholder collaboration.

“Collaboration between government, academia, business, communities, and the media is key to producing research that benefits society. Through this cooperation, we hope to create innovative solutions, strengthen social resilience, and foster sustainable development,” he said.

The main session featured a panel discussion with both international and national speakers, including Prof. Shigenori Ishida, Ph.D. (Professor of Social Security and Insurance Economics, Kansai University), Irwanda Wisnu Wardhana, Ph.D. (BRIN), and Yoshihiko Ono, Ph.D. (Professor in Policy Studies, Kansai University / Japan Federation of Labor and Social Security Attorney’s Associations). The session was moderated by Dr. Putu Diah Sastri Pitanatri, S.ST.Par., M.Par., Head of the Center for Research and Community Service (P3M) Poltekpar Bali.

The panel explored strategies for securing BRIN research grants, challenges of social security in a globalized era, and opportunities for Indonesia–Japan research collaboration.

The seminar provided significant benefits for Poltekpar Bali’s academic community and partner institutions by broadening knowledge on strategies for obtaining national and international research grants, while also opening space for cross-disciplinary and cross-border dialogues. The forum is expected to foster new research collaborations, joint publications, and policy recommendations related to social welfare and sustainable tourism development.
