SPEAKING with this remarkable individual leaves a lasting impression. Despite his senior position, extensive achievements, and global experience, he remains gracious and humble. His name: I Made Ricky Darmika Putra.
As Chief Operating Officer (COO) of Sudamala Resorts—a collection of luxury resorts proudly carrying an Indonesian brand—Ricky Putra leads with a blend of international expertise, warm leadership, and an authentic Balinese spirit.
Ricky’s career began with a simple yet courageous decision. Born and raised in Bali, he chose to embark on a global hospitality journey by joining a cruise line after completing his studies. Seven years at sea, traveling across continents, shaped his understanding of service excellence, discipline, and cultural diversity.
His dedication led him to a distinguished career with the Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, where he held no fewer than fifteen different positions across prestigious destinations—from Bali, Jakarta, Singapore, Thailand, the Maldives, Sydney, Hong Kong, and Shanghai, to Hawaii. Each posting served as a school of life, enriching his perspective and refining his sense of professionalism.
Before joining Sudamala Resorts, Ricky served as General Manager of Six Senses Uluwatu, where he was widely recognized for harmonizing luxury with environmental consciousness and meaningful guest experiences—a philosophy he has since brought to Sudamala.
As COO, Ricky oversees not only resort operations but also embodies the very soul of Sudamala—championing local craftsmanship, sustainability, and the warmth of Indonesian hospitality. He actively represents the company in various initiatives, from environmental conservation programs to collaborations with artists and cultural foundations.
At the heart of his leadership lies a guiding principle: every success begins with empathy, firsthand experience, and respect for every role within the organization.
Under Ricky Putra’s stewardship, Sudamala Resorts is more than just a place to stay—it is a sanctuary where guests can rediscover the harmony between people, nature, and culture. With a global vision and a heart deeply rooted in his Balinese heritage, Ricky exemplifies that true leadership is born of a lifelong journey—and a steadfast commitment to delivering excellence with soul.
Ricky Putra and The Soul of Sudamala
After a long and distinguished journey across some of the world’s most prestigious international hotel brands, Ricky Putra found something profoundly different at Sudamala — a place driven by a sincere vision, a clear mission, and a living soul that harmonizes luxury, culture, and humanity.
“Sudamala’s vision and mission are very clear,” he says. “It’s not only about becoming the best resort brand, but also about being the best place to build a career — an employer of choice for hospitality professionals in Indonesia.”
Together with his team, Ricky leads Sudamala to grow not just as a destination, but as a community — one that creates meaningful and memorable experiences for its loyal guests. It’s no surprise that many return time and again, drawn by the resort’s authenticity, personal touch, and heartfelt warmth.
“Our owner, Mr. Ben Subrata, truly walks the talk,” Ricky shares with pride. “He doesn’t just think about profit — he thinks about how what we have can benefit others.”
For Ricky Putra, these efforts go far beyond corporate social responsibility. They reflect the very philosophy of Sudamala: that opening a hotel is not merely about welcoming guests, but about opening opportunities, creating jobs, and enriching lives within the local community.
