Governor Koster Inaugurates CBP Rupiah Monument: A Testament to Bali’s Contribution to Economic Stability, Independence, and Sustainability

DENPASAR  – The Governor of Bali, Wayan Koster, officially inaugurated the Cinta, Bangga, Paham (CBP) Rupiah Monument on Saturday (Saniscara Paing, Warigadean), November 1, 2025. The monument is located on the southern side of the Bali People’s Struggle Monument, Puputan Margarana Niti Mandala Field, Denpasar.

The inauguration ceremony was marked by a ribbon-cutting and plaque signing by Governor Koster, witnessed by R. Erwin Soeriadimadja, Head of the Bank Indonesia Representative Office for the Province of Bali.

In his remarks, Governor Koster emphasized that the establishment of the CBP Rupiah Monument in Bali symbolizes the strong synergy and collaboration between Bank Indonesia and the Provincial Government of Bali. The monument proudly features a miniature of the Rp50,000 banknote (2005 Series), depicting National Hero I Gusti Ngurah Rai on one side and the Ulun Danu Beratan Temple in Tabanan on the other.

“These two symbols represent more than just the value of our currency; they embody the fighting spirit, identity, and pride of the Balinese people in supporting Indonesia’s national economy,” said Koster.

He expressed hope that the monument would serve as an educational medium, inspiring the public to develop a deeper love, pride, and understanding of the rupiah. Furthermore, the monument stands as a testament to Bali’s significant contribution to maintaining the nation’s economic stability and independence.

“This spirit aligns with the commitment of the Bali Provincial Government to continuously strengthen the region’s role in building a competitive and sustainable economy,” he added.

Governor Koster also noted that the monument is expected to become a new tourist attraction, given its artistic design and profound symbolism that harmoniously blends cultural values, national spirit, and respect for Indonesia’s heroes.

Concluding his speech, Governor Koster called on all Balinese people to foster greater love and appreciation for the rupiah as a symbol of national sovereignty.

“By understanding and using the rupiah wisely, we help maintain economic stability and strengthen the foundation of national development. May this monument bring great benefits to the people of Bali and inspire a renewed spirit of nationalism and appreciation for our currency,” he concluded.

Monument Inauguration Accompanied by Tree Planting – Bank Indonesia Expresses Gratitude to Governor Koster

Meanwhile, R. Erwin Soeriadimadja, Head of Bank Indonesia’s Bali Representative Office, expressed his gratitude to Governor Koster for his support, which made the construction of the CBP Rupiah Monument at Bajra Sandhi Monument possible.

He highlighted that the CBP Rupiah Monument serves as an important reminder of the need to preserve the rupiah as a shared symbol of pride and national identity.

“This initiative reflects Bank Indonesia’s ongoing efforts to nurture love and pride for the rupiah as the only legal tender, as well as a symbol of Indonesia’s economic strength and national sovereignty,” said Erwin.

Erwin also elaborated on the monument’s design, explaining that it features a tridi-parametric structure modeled after the Rp50,000 banknote (2005 Series), showcasing National Hero I Gusti Ngurah Rai on one side and Ulun Danu Beratan Temple on the other. The monument stands on a foundation symbolizing the date, month, and year of Indonesia’s Independence.

The inauguration ceremony also included the planting of 400 trees, representing Bank Indonesia’s contribution to environmental preservation.***
