SINCE moving to Bali, Hilarius Mali has shown extraordinary dedication. He became known as a tireless hard worker—always ready to face challenges in pursuit of a better future. In the early years of his life on the island, his daily routine was incredibly demanding: he worked in three different places every single day.
From morning to late afternoon (08:00–17:00), Hilarius worked on a hotel construction project. In the evening (18:00–23:00), he shifted to a job at an electronics store in Kuta. When the store closed, he didn’t rest—instead, he immediately prepared for his night shift as a security guard at Double Six, Kuta, working until the early hours of the morning. This exhausting schedule was more than just hard work; it became a disciplined training ground that built his perseverance, endurance, and the strong foundation for future success.
For many people, the first question that comes to mind is: “When did he sleep?” Hilarius answered simply, “Standing, sitting—anytime, I could still sleep.” That exhausting routine was not just a story of hard labor, but a testament to discipline, resilience, and determination that shaped the path to his achievements.
Hilarius’s journey proves that perseverance and the courage to seize opportunities—even when it means enduring extreme routines—can lead to extraordinary results. From working three jobs at once emerged a thriving art business that not only succeeded commercially but also contributed to Bali’s cultural and tourism landscape.
Mental Strength Is Built Through Hard Work, Not Comfort
Hilarius Mali’s story is more than just a narrative. He wants to share an important lesson with today’s younger generation: hard work and perseverance cannot be replaced by the convenience of gadgets or instant comfort.
His core message to young people is simple: do not give up easily when facing challenges. Mental toughness is shaped through effort, not ease. Every event, no matter how difficult, holds a lesson. God will never test a person beyond their ability.
Hilarius emphasizes that this is not just advice—it is a reality he has lived himself. Young people can learn that discipline, perseverance, and the courage to face hardship are essential keys to achieving dreams and building meaningful success. In essence, as long as you are able, never give up. Success is the result of real effort, not the illusion of comfort.
Equipping Yourself with Two Fundamental Skills
Since high school, Hilarius Mali had focused on the Language major, which equipped him with strong communication skills. When he moved to Bali, he didn’t stop learning—he deepened his English through courses and enrolled in additional training to learn how to drive a car. He considered both skills essential foundations for competing in the workforce.
While working as a security guard, Hilarius’s driving ability became a unique advantage. He was the only one who could provide extra service by driving foreign guests, even sharing useful travel tips. This proactive approach not only added to his experience but also strengthened his professional reputation.
Hilarius also consistently set personal targets. At the beginning of his working journey, he made a commitment: within one year, he must be able to buy his first motorcycle. That goal was eventually fulfilled—one year later, he bought his first motorbike, which he used to transport tourists. It increased his income while also expanding his network.
This story highlights that a combination of skills, determination, and hard work forms the foundation of success. For Hilarius, each achieved target is not merely about material gain, but about building capability, discipline, and a competitive mindset. **
