BEHIND Fransiska Handoko’s visionary leadership as Chair of the Bali Hotels Association (BHA) lies a long journey built on the solid foundation of education, discipline, and unwavering dedication. She did not suddenly appear at the peak of her career; rather, her success is the result of a consistent, focused, and deeply committed learning process.

Fransiska began her academic journey with a Double Diploma in Hotel Management, earned from two world-renowned institutions: the Blue Mountains International Hotel Management School (BMIHMS) in Australia and the International Hotel and Training Institute (IHTTI) in Switzerland. Both schools are recognized as incubators for global hospitality leaders.

Unlike traditional theory-heavy education, her learning experience emphasized a highly practical approach. She was not confined to classrooms but immersed herself in a wide range of operational roles — from front office and housekeeping to food & beverage and kitchen operations. Each of these experiences gave her a comprehensive understanding of hotel operations, from the smallest details to overarching managerial strategies.

“I believe that a true leader in hospitality must understand the industry from the ground up. Those experiences taught me to value every role within a hotel,” Fransiska once recalled.

Her pursuit of excellence did not stop at university. Fransiska went on to strengthen her expertise with several prestigious international certifications. The Certified Hotel Administrator (CHA) affirmed her professional standing in hotel management. The Certification in Hotel Industry Analytics (CHIA) sharpened her ability to interpret data and tourism trends, while the Certified Hospitality Revenue Manager (CHRM) equipped her with the skills to develop revenue strategies that adapt to changing market dynamics. All of these certifications were awarded by the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEI), one of the world’s most respected hospitality education bodies.

Armed with both world-class academics and professional certifications, Fransiska has developed the intellectual and practical capabilities needed to navigate the complex challenges of the tourism and hospitality industry. For her, education is not a formality but a foundation — one that has proven instrumental as she now leads hundreds of member hotels within BHA in facing global competition. **
