BALI, THEIMAGE.ID – Problematic foreigners continue to be a concern for Ngurah Rai Immigration. To control the behavior of problematic foreigners in Bali, the Class I Special TPI Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, the Bali Regional Office of the Ministry of Law and Human Rights conducted an operation to control foreigners in the Canggu area, North Kuta on Wednesday, August 14, 2024). This operation involved a total of 85 officers divided into 6 teams to control foreigners. This was revealed in a press conference at the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office on Thursday, (8/15/2024).
The Head of the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office, Suhendra, said that this operation was a form of elaboration of the direction of the Director General of Immigration to increase massive and routine supervision of foreigners, especially in Bali, to anticipate violations committed by foreigners.
Based on immigration intelligence information, Suhendra continued, many foreigners were found to be active in the MSME sector which was considered to be able to take jobs from the local community. Based on this, the Ngurah Rai Immigration conducted massive immigration operations in strategic areas that are concentrations of foreigners.
“The target of this operation is to target foreigners who are suspected of carrying out activities in the MSME sector such as vehicle rentals, salons (hair and nail salons), beauty clinics (facial treatments), tattoo artists, accessory traders, yoga instructors, swimming instructors, diving instructors, photographers, and so on who do not have permits in accordance with applicable provisions, then we will regulate them,” explained Suhendra.
In the operation which started at 12.30-18.00 WITA, the team conducted searches at 15 points in the Canggu area and succeeded in securing 10 foreigners.
From the results of the examination, 4 people were not proven to have committed violations, and 6 other people with the initials KDK (Lk, 40), CLJ (Pr, 37), LT (Pr, 36), NV (Pr, 34), KD (Pr, 31) and DO (Pr, 25) were found to have committed immigration violations, namely carrying out activities that were not in accordance with the permits they had. Currently, the foreigners are still being intensively examined by the Inteldakim division.
In addition, on the same day (Wednesday, August 14, 2024) Ngurah Rai Immigration also managed to secure a foreigner from Russia with the initials AF (Lk, 34) for overstaying immigration violations and alleged drug abuse.
The chronology of securing AF began with a public report regarding a foreigner who often caused trouble in the Banjar Cenggiling area, Jimbaran, South Kuta. Ngurah Rai Immigration together with the South Kuta Police then secured the person concerned. Based on the results of the examination, it was discovered that AF was a holder of a visiting permit who had overstayed.
“In addition, when the Inteldakim team conducted an examination of his belongings, they found narcotics in the form of marijuana weighing 10.75 grams and other items such as 1 (one) Russian passport, 16 (sixteen) Mastercard Visa cards, 1 (one) BNI Savings book in the name of AF, 1 (one) box of planting media, 1 (one) smoking device/bong and others,” explained Suhendra
“Currently, we are detaining AF in the immigration detention room and we will hand him over to the police to handle the alleged narcotics abuse,” added Suhendra.
Regarding immigration monitoring and enforcement statistics, Suhendra explained that up to now (1 January – 11 August 2024) Ngurah Rai Immigration has issued a total of 287 Immigration Administrative Actions (TAK) with details: 71 Deterrence, 9 Revocation of Stay Permits, 121 Detention, and 86 Deportations. The three countries most subject to TAK are Nigeria with 23 people, China with 17 people, and the United States with 12 people.
The Directorate General of Immigration through the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office will continue to intensify operations to control foreigners in strategic areas to keep Bali tourism conducive. As well as ensuring that foreigners in the Ngurah Rai Immigration Office’s work area have residence permits in accordance with their designation.
“Immigration will also continue to improve itself to suit the wishes of the community. We ensure that supervision of foreigners is a priority so that Bali remains a comfortable and orderly tourist area,” concluded Suhendra. ***
