DENPASAR, THEIMAGE.ID – Perum Bulog has resumed distributing food assistance for Bali Province, targeting a total of 201,343 recipients across eight regencies and one city. The distribution of rice is aimed to be completed before Christmas in 2024.
“Our target is to finish the distribution before Christmas. We hope this proceeds smoothly without any
obstacles,” stated Muhamad Anwar, Head of the Perum Bulog Bali Regional Office, during a meeting
in his office on Friday (06/12/2024).
The amount of rice to be distributed totals 2,013,430 kilograms, with each household receiving 10
kilograms. Before being delivered to the villages, the rice is sorted and inspected to ensure it is in
good condition. Additionally, Anwar assured that there are sufficient rice reserves in all regencies
across Bali to anticipate increased demand during Christmas and New Year celebrations.
“Bali Bulog’s rice stock is very secure as it is distributed across our six warehouses. Meanwhile, other
household commodities such as cooking oil and sugar are also adequately available,” he explained.
In 2024, food assistance was distributed in three phases. The first phase took place in January,
February, and March, while the second phase was carried out in April, May, and June. The third phase
was implemented in August, October, and December 2024.
“The purpose of this food assistance is to reduce the financial burden on food assistance recipients
(PBP) while also addressing poverty, tackling food insecurity, mitigating food and nutritional
shortages, controlling food price fluctuations and inflation, as well as protecting both producers and
consumers from the impacts of price volatility,” Anwar elaborated.
The food assistance is designated for Food Assistance Recipients (PBP), consisting of low-income
communities or families facing food and nutritional insecurity. Each recipient is allocated 10
kilograms per distribution and receives it free of charge.***Sandra G
