Minister of Tourism: GWB Mandalika Strengthens Sustainable Tourism in NTB

MANDALIKA, THEIMAGE.ID  – Minister of Tourism Widiyanti Putri Wardhana believes that the Clean Tourism Movement (Gerakan Wisata Bersih/GWB) at Kuta Mandalika Beach, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB), can serve as a pivotal moment to strengthen cleanliness and sustainability in Indonesia’s tourism destinations, particularly in NTB and its surroundings.

“I believe the Clean Tourism Movement can be a significant step in addressing the major challenges of maintaining cleanliness, preservation, and sustainability of our tourism destinations,” said Minister Widiyanti during the GWB event held at Kuta Mandalika Beach, NTB, on Thursday (April 24, 2025).

The Minister emphasized that the Clean Tourism Movement is a tangible action born from collective awareness and collaboration among various parties, as a form of concern for the importance of preserving cleanliness and environmental sustainability in Indonesia’s tourism destinations.

Moreover, the tourism sector in Lombok has become a key economic driver, recording 1.2 million tourist visits—almost half of the total 2.5 million visits to NTB in 2024.

“It is hoped that this program will further boost these achievements, enhance the region’s image, and serve as an inspiring example for other regions in Indonesia,” said Minister Widiyanti.

She also expressed appreciation to the Provincial Government of West Nusa Tenggara, the Central Lombok Regency Government, and the local community for their commitment and consistency in fostering a culture of cleanliness in tourism areas.

Through the Clean Tourism Movement, it is expected that long-term habits and awareness will be cultivated collectively to preserve cleanliness and environmental sustainability.
